Is this an elephant or a mammoth ?

I've been caught up in a debate whether this drawing depicts an elephant or a mammoth. I believe it's an elephant, but I would like to hear from somebody who actually knows the differences properly.

Your picture depicts a mammoth - although there are some errors in the picture on the cider bottle, e.g. the forehead is not correct and the tip of the trunk is not clearly visible as split into two lobes. To be honest, the drawing on the bottle is not too good, as it is basically a mammoth with a couple of elephant features. I doubt whether the artist researched about mammoths sufficiently. Here is a picture of both, side by side:

I would agree with LPC that the artist probably didn't worry about getting the drawing scientifically correct; however, I'd certainly say that this is a mammoth and not an elephant. I hope the features LPC gave differentiating the two have helped you?
    Hi There, how are you?
I run a blog aimed at helping pet owners learn about their pets. It's only small at the moment, but the content is honest, well researched and hopefully informative. If you are interested in visiting it, please do. I would love to hear your feedback.
