    Alternative Therapies - personal recommendations

Hi, I'm new here and looking for some advice.

My little Yorkie (Cobweb) has recently very sadly been diagnosed with lung cancer and the mass on her lung is now considered by my vet as inoperable. She is at the moment reasonably comfortable and appears pain free and I want to ensure the best quality of life for whatever time she has left with as little invasive treatment as possible. I have long had an interest in human alternative therapies and have therefore been investigating the possibilities for dogs.

Does anyone have personal experience in either CV247 or Mistletoe therapies which have both come up when I have been researching?

I am going to be posting this on a few forums just to try to get some traffic in terms of responses.

    Thank you

Welcome to the forum. I am very sorry to read that your dog has cancer. I do not know the treatments you mention in your thread, but here are some very helpful web pages:

    Good luck!

Re: Alternative Therapies - personal recommendations

I am sorry to hear little Cobweb has cancer.

I have no personal experience with the use of Mistletoe (leaves....certainly NOT berries!) as a herbal medicine., but I am a strong advocate for herbal treatments and 99% of the time use them with great benefit for many things.
Mistletoe leaves are used herbally for a few symptoms -usually cardiac/blood pressure related. But they are said to possibly have some anti-tumour properties.
But quite a few herbs are noted to have "possible anti-tumour properties" also. A qualified herbalist would probably use some of those with other herbs in a combination.

I urge you to find a good holistic/herbal veterinarian for Cobweb. There may be other treatments as well, which a holistic vet would be able to advise you about. I feel it would be safer to do this, and the vet will also be able to monitor progress, and know Cobweb's full medical history, to prescribe the correct medications in the correct dosage.

If there isn't a holistic/herbal vet in your area or within feasible travelling distance, you may be able to consult with one online -at least for advice.

I sen dyou and Cobweb my kindest, and most positive thoughts! Bless him.

Thank you for your response. Yes I have found a holistic vet who has prescribed CV247 as an immunotherapy. It isn't going to cure Cobweb because she is very sadly terminal, but she definitely appears more comfortable and her appetite has improved a little which is all that is important to me. I didn't have any idea just how hard this would be.

I am an animal reiki practitioner and although it probably won't get rid of the tumour, it can be helpful in easing any pain or stress that comes from it. It can even be sent over distance.
