Smile Hello from the East Midlands

Hello, my name is Karla and I'm from the East Midlands in the UK, Derbyshire to be more specific. I am a college student doing an advanced diploma in animal management.
I have 5 ferrets called Vinnie, Nancy, Willow, Whisper and Jimmy, I also have a European polecat called Bandit who lives with my ferrets, she's cheeky, naughty and nice at the same time...... As in she can be a meany sometimes (thankfully not often) but she's always up to mischief and has a tendency to use her cuteness to her advantage. I have a YouTube channel which is the same name as my username on here, it's mainly ferret and polecat based but occasionally, I'll upload a video featuring a different animal, usually a zoo related animal.

A very warm welcome to the forum! I'm so glad that you have done the right thing: you have introduced yourself and told us about your pets, not just put in a link to your YouTube channel. I see that you have found a good way to do that, by employing a user name which is the same as your channel .

I was always puzzled about the difference between a ferret and polecat - and your thread caused me to look for something to explain the difference. I found this: http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advi...ic-ferret.html

Is your polecat assertive over the ferrets?

Thank you for the welcome :)

All about the difference between the two on there is true, except for the darker ears part, the beck of a polecat's ears are the same as a ferret's. Bandit unlike most polecats is about the same size as the ferrets because she was the runt of her litter and didn't grow very big, however she has a much broader build than the ferrets.

To a degree she is assertive over them as she's the alpha of the group but she's also nice and friendly to them all as well since she has grew up and always lived with them.

    Here's a photo of her :) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CPIhvjcW...jpg&name=large

Hello Frolicking Ferrets! I am from the UK also. (sw. UK) I have been to Derbyshire quite a few times. I used to walk the hills with my Dad when I was a kid. The last time I went there was in 2012. I stayed in the Glossop area. It's a beautiful place.

Ferrets are interesting animals, full of character. I like them. That picture of your Polecat is charming!

Hi Tobi, Glossop is about an hour and a half from where I am, I used to go up to the high Peak District but I haven't been for a few years, I'd like to go up again though, I love it up there, so peaceful.

I will post pic of my ferrets soon.

A very warm welcome to the forum, dear Karla
All this talk of religion, but it's how you live your life that is the all-important thing.
If you set out each day to do all the goodness and kindness that you can, and to do no harm to man or beast, then you are walking the highest path.
And when your time is up, if you can leave the earth a better place than you found it, then yours will have been a life well lived.
