List of all animals?

I am making a game that has lots of mini games inside it. One of the mini games involves listing as many animals as you can. I'm looking for a good animal list that I can use with as many animals as possible without going into certain breeds. For example:

Bird
Cat
Dog
Frog
Ect...

I found a list on Wikipedia with around 250 animals but I'm wondering if it is accurate. It also lists "cow" as "cattle" and doesn't list just "bird" which would probably be a little confusing... here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animal_names

Would that be a good list to use in the game or is it not a proper list of animals?

Welcome to the forum. The name 12padams is so unique that there must be only one the net! I know you from elsewhere, I'm sure.

Ask anyone, even a zoology expert, to define a list of animals and they would never agree 100%. It depends on how you classify certain animals, especially those on the "borders" between one category and another. So if I were you, just look at as detailed a list as you can and make your own decisions about how to classify (or not). A bat is sometimes regarded as a bird - but it is really a mammal. Would you then list "mammal" - or "bat" individually? In the latter case, you would then need to list every mammal individually. I don't think it matters, as long as you are consistent in your criteria. Again, would you list "insect", or each insect individually? Ultimately, you must make that decision, based on the practicalities of your game.

If I were you, I would make it to feel as less redundant as possible. For example, I was quite upset that 4 out of 10 Rangers in Power Rangers Jungle Fury are basically big cats (tiger, jaguar, cheetah, and lion). I would put them as just "cats".
