Hi, I'm new here.
My cat, Laddie, is too skinny. He has siam in him, but he also has some others like tabby, and probably more. Our neighbor found him a stray, and couldn't keep him, but could keep his mom. He was about maybe 3, 4 months old then. I have had him for some time now, but I haven't been able to fatten him up. He was WAY too skinny then too. I have tried everything afordable, feeding him fatty leftovers from dinner, worming him, and now I am going to fix him on the 16th. I need some advice on what to do about it! :?:
Does your vet consider him too skinny? Some cats are just lean, with high matabolisiums like some people are. There is a chance your cat is healthy, just a leab cat. Its best to feed healthy foods to him, not fat, fat can actually harm your cat, try stuff like liver, and ask your vet, they may have a special food that will help your lean cat put on a little more weight, but chances are he's just a healthy active cat and his leanness is simply a sign of this.

I tried liver once, but he didn't really like it too much. Even the leftover lamb fat? We have our own farm of sheep and goats, and he gets the dairy goat's strip milk, along with his buddy Alix my other kitty. The Nubian\Sanaan's goat milk has lots of good fats, so you can't mean that, that is unhealthy. He doesn't have a vet, except for the vet that is getting him fixed. Well I know that Siamese cats are lean, but he is very sunken in on his sides, but other than that, I would just say that he is lean. He is active, true. But maybe I will see what happens after he is fixed...
Your giving him milk? How old is he? Once a cat reached a certain age, digesting milk becomes an issue, are his stools firm? If not this could be part of your problem and you might consider switching him to just water, only humans and human demesticated animals drink water passed two years of age, cats just arn't really meant to have it after eight or nine weeks, which is why mom weanes them at that time. I would try a high fat high fiber type diet or since your trying to feed your dog RAW, do the same for you cat.

Goat milk is healthy for cats. But not healthy in large amounts. That is only why Laddie and Alex get the strip milk. Yes, Laddie is a growing kitten still, and he does get more milk than Alex, but still not much. (Alex is a fully grown cat.) Yes, both cats have firm stools. He is already on water, and also plain heathy cat food (the healthiest it gets now). Why feed him raw?
Its the healthies you can feed your cat, and it often contains more nutrients and healthy fats then regular cat food, not to mention you get to avoid the ash filler in most cat foods. You might find he puts on a little weight with RAW where he wont with cat food.

What kind of raw? He has always since he was a kitten eaten mice, and once Alex, the huge cat, caught him a squirrel, and Laddie caught himself a Chipmunk, and many more things. I know that mice carry lots of disease, but we worm him and give him GSE regularly. Do you consider that good enough? We always find the healthiest dry cat food available, but that is only half of his diet, because he regularly eats mice and any other meat he can catch.

So I'll get back to you on more, normally I would have more, but not being a cat owner anymore, my last passed away a few years ago due to old age, I'm not as fully up to date on it al as I use to be.

Oh, no, sorry to hear about your cat. I bet you really miss it. :cry: At least it was old age and not something else, most cats do die of something else besides old age. K. I will wait for the other links...
