Cleaner... Safe, or DEADLY...

I was wondering: When you are cleaning your fish tank, is bleach safe to use? If not, what are some other options availible??

I had an odd way of cleaning my tank, but it got it very clean. Since certain chemicals I purchased: waste/copper/and the like controls didn't always help, I used a toothbrush and a sponge to clean the sides of the tank and filtered through the bottom (I had white sand) with my fish net. It got out all that gunk and waste the best as it could. Rocks are usually easiest to clean with a suction or actually removing them from the tank and filtering through them in a strainer. The filter should clear the cloudy water on it's own.

I've never used bleach, but I read sites that say you can, but it's done in a certain way. You could look at this site about the bleach part: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/qa/l/blqa2006.htm

I clean the tank the way u said it, but I'm also looking for other ways.

I would not use bleach in case it is not rinsed properly. Plus the smell will stay in the tank not good for fish.

I would never use bleach or other chemicals when cleaning the tank. Im always conscious that I would leave traces of it. Defo bad for the fish in my opinion. A good old scrub does the trick but don't use too hard a scrubbing brush. Hot water rinse then a rub down.
