Woke up, dog couldn't stand, shattered disc, put to sleep

I woke up this morning and my doberman couldn't stand. She was fine last night. I carried her to the car and brought her to the vet who said the dog was in extreme pain, likely had a shattered disc, and it wasn't good. She said we could try a specialist who would do a spinal operation, but she didn't think the chances were too good this dog would walk.

Since we had another doberman who went through a lot of time and pain and surgeries with cancer, we elected to put this one down.

This was a real shock given there was no trauma, no fall, no incident that would have caused such an injury. But the vet said this is pretty common in dobermans, either a shattered disc or tumor putting pressure on the spine.

    I am so sorry.
How old was your sweet dog?
This must be so traumatic for you and your family.

having your animal die is a hard thing to go through. I recently got home from school one day and my parents had to tell me that our yorkshier terrior had to be put down. Her throat had clapsed. She was 12 years old and I had, had her since i was two. I know you feel and I hope this gets easier for you.

    All my love

Awe, I'm so sorry about your Dobie.

I know how it feels to lose a dog... to me it's like losing a member of the family.

My She rest in peace. =[

I'm sure that you gave her a great life, and that she is thankful that you put her out of her pain. =]

I m so sorry for your loss. I think your dog died with serious pain. I know its very hard time for you. Dogs are our best friends and we can't forget them. They are like our family members.
My friend lost his doberman with same disease. He also cry all the time and feeling so bad.
I pray to God may she rest in peace.

It is painful when your pet dies. When he is a part of your family for a long time it is hard to bear.
