I am adopting an african grey that was abandoned. I believe it is a young bird as it still has down on the upper chest/neck and it's wing fethers don't seem developed. It seems to be a pleasant bird but I have not picked it up yet as the cage is on order. I am concerned as it looks as if it snaps off it's tail feathers. They are only about 1/2 in long. Any help or advice as I know nothing about how this bird was treated, etc. Any insight on age, condition etc? I will take it to a vet soon but am curious prior to then.
I hope someone else on the forum can help you, I am sorry but I do not personally know anything about birds. He sure is gogeous though.
What did you name him?
