I would recommend what my friend recommended for me, a dog tracker, check it out on google there are a lot online.

I think it's fine to let your dog play with soft toys, just keep it away from her when you are not around since there is a tendency that the dog will swallow the toy and you wouldn't want that.

I absolutely love English Bulldogs. They're funny, lazy and so adorable once they have energy to run around with their huge bodies. My English bulldog has a problem with running out of the house too...
