We mix some table scraps into our dogs bowl with some of her food as a treat, but only healthy stuff like plain meat, vegetables, rice etc.
Never force a dog to eat anything they don't want!
Probably worth mentioning where you are located in the world, and you'd have more joy posting in your local paper or putting up some adverts in shop windows, especially pet stores and vets.

Around here it's about £25 for a vet visit. Where on earth are you? Sounds like a ridiculous amount to have to pay. Plain chicken and rice is great for stopping diarrhea.
