Origin
The Miniature Pinscher originated in Germany, but it has been bred in Scandinavian countries. It is descended from traditional German Terriers and became standardized in 1895. At one time this breed was known as the Reh Pinscher -- reh meaning roe, in reference to a small roe deer. It is also known as the Zwergpinscher.
General description
Height: 10-12.5 inches
Weight: 8-10 pounds
Color: This breed can be found in solid red, black, or brown with rich tan markings.
Grooming requirements
Regular brushing, ear cleaning and nail clipping are required. You will need a soft curry brush to keep this dog looking buffed and polished.

Potential health difficulties may include joint problems.
Breed characteristics and personality
The Miniature Pinscher is noted for its lively temperament and intelligence. It is a remarkably energetic and upbeat breed. He is a spirited and animated creature whose friendly disposition makes him an equally good pet with adults or children. He is proud, vigorous and playful, even in his old age. The Miniature Pinscher is very possessive of his loved ones, fearless when on guard, and makes an alert watch dog.
This is an indoor dog that enjoys much outdoor exercise. It fits in better in a home than an apartment due to its excessive barking and noise-making.
Uses
The "Min Pin" makes an excellent companion and an alert watchdog.
