Terrier breeds: Skye Terrier
Origin
The Skye gets its name from the Scottish Isle of Skye in the Inner Herbrides. This dog was bred in solitude in that area, but is estimated to have originated in the 1400s. Since that time the look of the Skye has changed little. His coat then was to protect him from the animals who could have ended his life with a single bite. Today this lustrous coat is a symbol of beauty. The popularity of the Skye came when they became known at the palace. Once this happened, their popularity soared.
