Terrier breeds: American Staffordshire
Origin
This breed closely resembles its ancestor, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The breed dates back to the 1800s, and like its name implies, is native to the United States. In 1972 the Staffordshire Terrier became the American Staffordshire Terrier. Since the American Staffordshire Terrier was heavier, they were recognized as individual and separate breeds.
