When my dog gets exited or runs, she will start to foam at the mouth. It just accumilates but luckly she doesn't have any problem breathing. She has been doing this for years and non of my other dogs do this. Can anyone explain why this happens to her and not the other dogs? Could this be some feature that aids in picking up scents?

Dogs do not have sweat glands so the only way they can 'cool down' when excited or after a lot of exercise is to 'sweat' through their mouth. As they 'pant' the moisture drips off their tongue. If she is 'sweating' an excess amount and if it actually looks like foam I would take her to the vet for a general checkup to make sure her heart is functioning normally. It probably is as some dogs just get more excited and 'hotter' after exercise but next time you are at the vet for shots or whatever do ask him/her about it.
