We have a 3yr. old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier in good health.
Not too long ago, she decided she was a cow, grazing on grass,
so much so, she was impacted with it.

We took her to the vet and after two Xrays and a thorough exam
all the Vet had to say was that her stomach was a tilted a bit forward
and the sac before the stomach was filled with grass.

I have removed her access to all grass & leaves. She has been much better
now and eats well, but she still has this problem. After drinking, having a
treat or barking, she dry heaves and swallows over and over again,
she does not vomit, just kind of gags.

Any ideas?

Thanks

This sounds like something similar to mega esophagus (sp?). You should ask your vet if this is possible. If so there are many things you can do to alleviate the problem.

Quite interesting, although this sounds a bit extreme for she does not regurgitate any food or water, just kinda chocks on it. Regular feedings are OK, it's just when she is excited, like barking at the squirrels. Maybe she is just in too big of a hurry and trying to breath and swallow at the same time?

I will keep an eye on it and have a visit with the VET if it continues.

Thanks for the reply

Rethinking this - check out this page:

BTW - this is a good site to search for symptoms (www.vetinfo4dogs.com) but ALWAYS ask your vet first.
