A true story recorded in Hans Ruesch's classic book 'Slaughter of the Innocents'

On his way home a miner encountered two rats...
"The man took a stick and killed one of them and then noticed that its friend was blind and had been led along by a straw in its mouth by the other rat."

Didn the miner do anything to help the blind rat? Or did he just leave it there?

I've no idea I'm afraid. The miner was Russian I believe, but that's all I know.

The story though is one of beauty, wonder and realisation. An understanding that animals too are capable of love, kinship and altruism.
