A list some of the most extraordinary and unbelievable animals to have been found on Earth has been drawn up.

They are the creatures that seem like they should not really exist.

A new book has revealed some of the most extraordinary animals to be found on Earth.

In some cases they could even be mistaken for being mythical beasts.

The cheerful-looking Axolotl is on the list of the most extraordinary animals to grace our planet.

“The real world is much more extraordinary than many of the myths and dreams that people have had,” said author Caspar Henderson.

He has scored the scientific records for animals that he describes as “barely imagined beings” due to their bizarre appearance and qualities.

Have stumbled across the Mexican Axolotl before, fascinating creature, whats most fascinating is its narrow geographical location, only found in one lake in mexico

I think the axolotl might be the weirdest, but no list of extraordinary animals is complete without the peacock spider!
