I feed a group of swans at a local park on a regular basis, some of them are happy to see me and one of them is always cranky, one of the swans is always really friendly and will climb out of the water and stand beside me and take bread from my hand.

I know that swans hiss and make various other noises, however when this friendly swan takes food from me he wont snap at me he simply waits for me to hand it to him and he makes an unusual but positive sound when I give him food

My question is do swans make noises when they are happy and pleased with you? I find this very curious behaviour.

If they do, you should record it. I've never heard a "happy sound" from a swan, before, so it'd be interesting to hear. I imagine one would, as most animals have vocals for different emotions.

The swans are generally found in temperate environments, rarely occurring in the tropics. The Black Swan is the faunal emblem of the Australian state of Western Australia and swans are featured on the coat of arms of Canberra, the Australian capital.
