I just bought a Female Cockateil about 6 months ago and I am wondering if the Pet Stores sell their birds fixed or not. MY cockateil they said was a girl has not laid any "fake" eggs. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this? Thnaks,
Christen

I don't know much about birds but I've heard that they aren't mature and don't begin to lay eggs until they are at least 18 months old; though some do earlier there are others that will much later. So it's possible yours is not old enough.

You may want to check out the National Cockatiel Society for more information. Some cackatiels can be sexed by the colors of their feathers whereas others can't. Here's a quick link, maybe you can find some helpful information on there.

Birds are difficult to "fix", so the pet store would not have had them fixed. It may be some time before - if ever - your bird lays fake eggs.
