I thought that some may be interesting in hearing about Luna the young killer whale. Luna, at a very young age, became separated from his pod and wondered into a harbour area in Gold River British Columbia Canada. That is where he tried to exist for a few years, despite the obvious dangers of being too close to humans and the terrible risks that apparently come with that. Luna became the object of debate. Native people called him their "spirit whale" & interfered with his attempted release to open water & another pod. Some tried to treat him like he was some kind of pet. Media used him. Tourism used him. Others physically abused him. I wrote many letters trying to get people do what was right.
Today, Luna has died at the hands of a boat operator. What a waste & a tragedy!
